High Precision Magnetic Encoder Module with PWM and Serial Interface Port

The product features a 14-bit rotary position sensor with digital angle output and pulse width modulation (PWM) capability. The AS5048A is a 14-bit rotary position sensor for absolute angle measurement over 360 degrees, based on non-contact magnetic sensor technology. It provides full-rotation PWM output. The device is suitable for shaft applications where a simple two-pole magnet rotates above or below the sensor IC. The zero position can be programmed using standard SPI commands. Absolute magnetic angular position resolution is 14 bits (16,384 steps per revolution). It supports serial interface (SPI) for digital angle data output. The AS5048 provides PWM output and supports SPI or I²C interface for absolute angle measurement with a microcontroller. The zero position can be programmed during assembly using standard SPI or I²C commands—no special programming equipment required. The device offers high mechanical tolerance, including misalignment between the sensor and magnet, air gap variation, and operation across a temperature range of –40 °C to +150 °C. Compared to previous magnetic rotary encoders, the AS5048 delivers improved accuracy. Its 14-bit analog front end enables a resolution of 0.0219 degrees. With microcontroller-based linearization and averaging, angle accuracy can reach 0.05 degrees.
