Established in 1969 when Hong Kong was little more than a colonial legal backwater the Faculty has contributed widely to the transformation of Hong Kong into a flourishing and dynamic jurisdiction under one country two systems in which Hong Kong maintains its freedoms and its common law system as a Special Administrative Region of the Peoples Republic of China. The Faculty has been instrumental in fostering a legal profession firmly rooted in Hong Kong and able to function bilingually in Chinese and English a vital feature of Hong Kongs modern legal system.
