A faulty or inoperative motor resistor may result in poor cabin cooling or heating. It can also cause insufficient defrosting or de-icing of the windshield, reducing driver visibility. When replacing a faulty motor resistor, check the function of other heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system components, as they may be causing the motor resistor to fail. The current draw of the motor should be checked according to the manufacturer's specifications, and the cabin air filter (if equipped) should be replaced.
